. My favorite cookbooks (here is a sampling of titles) include stories and anecdotes, little tidbits that just add to the joy of making the recipe somehow. If you have never read Laurie Colwin's Home Cooking you are missing a rare treat...go order it now :)
O.k. moving on to Fabric...I love Cath Kidston and it makes me sad that we don't have her stores here in the U.S. and in order to actually own any of her stuff I have to fork out way more than I'm willing on shipping. The other day when I was prowling around Amazon looking for this
I somehow ended up finding this
and so of course I ordered it...free shipping and all. It came the same day as my order of American Retro from Sew Mama Sew...
That just makes me happier than....well happier than it ought, I suppose :) I made a few more pincushions,
Right? Don't they? I just can't bring myself to break them up, so I guess I need to make more... Some darker ones for Fall...
I am loving the joy of miniature...so quick and fun and cute. I made this little 8x9 inch cutie start to finish in about one hour...now that's what I'm talkin' about!

O.k. I'm off to finish up curriculum planning...it's that time of year AGAIN...how did that happen so quick????
Oh and hey is there something weird going on with blogger? My little bar up there has all different buttons and my pictures are ending up in weird places....I'm not likin' it one bit :(

Love your new farics. Your pincushion is sooo cute
The new fabrics DO match your book just perfectly! I've been having blogger problems too. :S
Very nice fabrics and very cute pincushions!
Ahhh.... no curriculum this year for me! My youngest finally graduated... yea!!
adorable pin cushions , just so cute.
love the little quilt under Annie too!
oh cookbooks I love them too...my youngest is now hooked on watching Ina, Barefoot Contessa everyday at 5 on Food network I need to buy that cook book , do you like it?
Maybe she will start cooking dinner, think that would work?
OMG I love those pin cushions...they do look like a family. And that tiny quilt is just wonderful. Your new fabrics are YUMMY!
I love cookbooks as well. do you want another suggestion? the one on the top of my list to buy is "The Inglenook Granddaughter's Cookbook." It was written as a revision of the original Inglenook Cookbook when the Granddaughter's of the original authors got together and published their takes on the recipes. It has some great old-timey recipes. Anyways, Good luck with breaking that addiction...
Your mini quilt is so cute.
You are right lots of great stuff! But I have to say what really drew me in was the fact that you went to see Julie and Julia. Hubby and I went to see it a few weeks ago and loved. I reminisced about having watched the The French Chef when I was young. Then went over to my mom's house and low and behold she has the 1st edition of Mastering the Art of French Cooking!! What good condition it was in too! Thanks for the link to the original blog. I was perusing it! What a find, thanks!
I buy magazines like Paula Deen's and then they sit. I keep thinking I'll make something in them and then it doesn't happen LOL.
Seeing all of the aqua and red is really starting to grow on me.... I'm thinking I gotta have some soon.
Hugs!!
I love seeing all the cookbooks piled up high and you own them! So many times I find several I just have to have and slap my hands and tell myself...internet!! SO...with that said...I have cookbook envy.
Your little quilt is sweet and pin cushions even better! Adorable!!!
You could write a book on one hour quilts.
I haven't been by to visit in awhile but I needed to tell you how much I love that Splendid Table cookbook. I have a 40% off coupon for Borders and I think that book needs to come home with me! Do you listen to the Spendid Table show on NPR? Anyway, happy stitching and cooking.
I love cookbooks too! I buy them and also get them from the library. Right now I'm really enjoying Mark Bittman and bought 2 of his.
I have several cookbooks too, and love each one. My favorite is one of my mother's, with her handwritten hints in the margins. Looks like you found some yummy fabric to love! I like miniatures too, there is something to be said for finishing a little quilt in just a day.
The new fabrics look awesome with your new notebook - love the colours!
Good luckwith your planning.
I just love all your photos...you have such a beautiful photography style! I LOVE your new mini quilt...that is my all time favorite block to sew!
And that new fabric is so yum!
Oh sure. Here "I" sit, trying to be good on the cookbooks and there you, the naughty little temptress that you are, sit, trying to lead us astray. For Shame!
I love the Artisan Bread Book -- I've only used it once, but really want to try some more recipes. And now I want The Splendid Table and the MtAoFC. I need more cookbooks like I need a hole in the head. (Or, I should probably say, another hole in the head.)
I'm putting you on probation LOL.
Love those darker fall pin cushions.. oh ya its me Rabbitstitchings... when I finally was able to get back to blogging I managed to really mess up my old one, ahem I thought I had, well anyway long story short I am now Texan ...http://texan.blogspot.com/
I listen to Lynn @ Splendid Table Show on MPR, love the show. Found this cookbook and some of the other books you mentioned at my library. :o) Thanks!
Love the pin cushions. I know what you mean about cookbooks. I just love them. Not that I cook much out of them. Doll class sounds like great fun
