O.k. here it goes...

1. I eat my M&M's in pairs after I have sorted them into pretty color combinations..
2. I lived in Turkey for about a year and a half in 4th-5th grade.
3. Sarah, my youngest, was born at home. And yes it was on purpose :)
4. I'm a "gadget girl" I love gadgets of all types, high tech computer stuff, backpacking gear, obviously I love quilty gadgets, some of the gadgets I get the most excited about are the simplest little things. This is my favorite right now LOL5. When I was 19 I was part of a group of 5 guys and 1 other girl who backpacked from the lowest point in the Continental U.S. (Bad Water in Death Valley)

one every where I go, I even have a battery operated one for when we go camping!

Starry Night Hollow

Yesterday my friend Michele and I went shopping...fabric shopping--what else? We had fabric waiting for us that we had pre-bought at Sowing Sisters in Carlsbad and then had planned on heading to Fat Quarters. So we picked up our fabric and picked up the flyer for the San Diego Shop Hop and headed back to my car. I was showing Michele the map on the back and I saw IT---a new spot that wasn't there last year! Now I love visiting new shops (new to me anyway it's actually been open since August) and this one was only about 10 miles from where we were... and besides with a name like Starry Night Hollow I figured we couldn't go wrong...I love being right and right I was, this is the cutest little shop...

again I somehow didn't get a picture, I think my camera didn't actually take pictures some of the time cuz I remember taking pictures in the classroom! Anyway like every other room in this house it's beautiful and inviting!

I also wish I would have gotten the one about coffee...too funny--that's o.k. I'll just have to go back :)
Oh and she (Kim-the owner) is also a ceramacist and she's made these cute mugs with the names of all the employees and regulars for their coffee. In her patterns...the templates are cute little painted ceramic pieces!!! O.k I think that's enough gushing for one post LOL!

Where did my week go?!

I can't believe it's been a whole week since I've posted anything! I wish it was because I'd been so busy doing "quilty stuff". Unfortunately that is not the case. The bummer is I don't really even remember what I've done!!! Let's see I finished the little string quilt and, much to everyone's surprise, even got the binding sewn down.
I quilted the little heart quilt but no binding yet--it's on my list though :)
Last Spring I came across Bonnie Hunter's method of doing "leader enders" and loved the idea, so I started putting together 2" squares from the first quilts I had made for my kids with a few other scraps from early quilts thrown in. Yesterday I put the top together and today I will put a red containment border on it--then hopefully find a border for it tomorrow when I go shopping! It's pretty wild color wise because I really did make it a truly scrappy quilt and didn't leave stuff out that I thought was ugly (very hard for me lol) but the kids love finding their old quilt fabric in it so that's fun.Oh yeah and I made my first block for my Country Loft BOM--3 more and I'm all caught up LOL!Tuesday night I drove a TRUCK for the Registrar of Voter's. It's a long story but to make it short--I thought I was going to be driving a "small truck" those were the word's used by the person who recruited me " hey we're short drivers..civic duty..150 bucks for fabric...just a SMALL truck..blah, blah, blah.... Now small to me meant pick up truck-right? Hah! Anyway turns out it's the largest truck you can drive without a special license!!!!Here we are all lined up and waiting to drop off the ballots...this isn't even half of them I couldn't get a very good picture while driving this thing LOL!Here's my not so happy helper--I made him come with me for moral support...and to watch his side and make sure I wasn't going to side swipe anything LOL. And speaking of my oldest-I just looked at the time and realized I need to go pick him up at work!
Before I go I just want to put the blame for my lack of posting where it truly belongs...right in the lap of all you women with the wonderful blogs!!!! The only reason I have time to do this post is because I didn't look at my bloglines when I got on but came straight here to post!! Had I checked it I would be reading your blogs right now instead of typing LOL. So later tonight I will hopefully get to catch up on my reading...:)

I'm So Excited!!!

I'm so excited!!! I just made my reservations at the Westin for Long Beach Quilt Festival...the debut!! We can be charter members or something right??? Who's going?? Let's have a PARTY!!

So I quilted my first quilt for a friend...not really a "customer quilt" cuz I did it for free, but it still kinda freaked me out cuz I was quilting for someone ELSE!!!

I also jumped on the "Sharon Red Geranium Cottage" bandwagon of making a little 30's strip quilt cuz I have decided I want to be her when I grow up LOL!! So glad you are back posting Sharon...missed you sweetie :)

Oh and I realized when I got home from retreat after reading your comments and e-mails that maybe some of you thought I was going on a quilting retreat :) no such luck----my church has a youth retreat every year..and they invite us parents to come along :) So instead of posting pictures of that which you (unknowingly requested LOL) Iwill post a more fun picture of my shopping that was inspired by Sharon and Beth and ... I can't remember... I have also been very inspired by Deb lately to make my own Annie and I may attempt that soon...thanks for all the tips Deb :) I will share one picture cuz my precious niece's were working at the campground we were staying at...are they cute or what..actually 3 of those cuties are my own babies :) o.k you twisted my arm two pictures

Look who came to live with me!

Thursday as I was packing my car for retreat I noticed a box behind a planter by my front door. I guess the postman was making sure it didn't get wet if the rain came, but it was not where my packages are usually left so I'm glad I noticed it! Look who was inside:An Annie of my very own! Yes she is legitimately mine, not stolen or kidnapped but legally adopted from Nicole at Raggedy Old Annies. Thanks Nicole-- she's adorable! I think I now understand why some people have so many of these cuties. As soon as I had put her up I immediately wanted to go order her a few friends-- she looks lonely don't you think? In fact my neighbor went and ordered twins after she saw mine LOL!

Done with Step 6!

I finally finished step 6 of the Carolina Crossroads a couple of days ago. I've been using the step 7 rail blocks as leader enders for some other things I've been working on, so it may take me a while to complete this last step.
